Renovations
Renovating a property is something that most people approach with their heart and soul. We take great pride helping bring properties back from a dilapidated state.
We find there are two different types of property renovation, these being period properties and out of style properties. Within the district, we work on many period properties and also listed buildings, and therefore have a good deal of experience dealing with the conservation department in various local authorities, and are able to offer advice from the early stage how to proceed with renovation works.
If a building is listed there is a limited amount of work that can be carried out as a renovation without consent. Most work however will require listed building approval. Very careful consideration needs to be taken when looking at working on a listed building.
We are quite frequently asked to look at properties that don’t feel comfortable in their surroundings. Unfortunately during the 1950s, 60’s, 70’s and 1980s some awful looking buildings were constructed in and around this area. These buildings bring with them a unique opportunity to try to fix what is clearly wrong. Sometimes there are multiple issues with the external appearance, sometimes just a few things that are visually wrong.
The external appearance of an existing building can be changed in so many ways, and we have good experience updating buildings to take from a very outdated look and create a property that in some cases, can look drastically different.
These changes can be made by altering the external finish of the wall construction or changing the shape and style of the windows. We are able to help offer a measured survey of the building, design advice and ultimately proposed designs to help transform this type of building.
