About us
Stable Architecture is a small architectural design practice based in Banbury, North Oxfordshire and concentrates on residential designs for private clients.
We work on a relatively wide range of project sizes and types ranging from the individual design of a new dwelling in a one off location right the way through to a single-storey extension such as a kitchen or garden room on a village property.
Along with our private clients, we work closely with property developer clients too.
We pride ourselves on offering high quality design and presentation, regardless of the size of the project we are involved with.
The practice was started in 1994 by Jeremy Dunn following a four year apprenticeship working within a small architectural practice based in the former stockyard in Banbury. During his time in this practice, Jeremy gained experience working on properties within rural settings.
Stable Architecture is a small practice consisting of Jeremy Dunn as the principal designer with his wife Sue, also working within the business full-time undertaking the office management role.
From the outset we have focused on the residential market, and Jeremy takes a great deal of satisfaction and enjoyment when helping people create the homes that they wish to live in.
Jeremy spends a lot of his time dealing with private individuals who have either never been involved with or have a very minimal knowledge of the planning system. Part of the service offered is to make sure our clients are kept informed from the beginning of the process through to gaining approval. Jeremy is very proud to offer a personal service to each and every one of his clients.
We prefer to leave the realms of corporate design and commercial ventures to larger architectural practices, this allows us to concentrate on what we love doing best, which is providing a quality service to domestic and residential clients that make a real difference to people’s lives.
Due to the almost unique location of Banbury where the practice is based, we regularly deal with multiple local authorities including, but not exclusive to, Cherwell District Council, Cotswold District Council, Stratford-upon-Avon District Council, West Oxon District Council and South Northamptonshire Council.
We work very closely with a small carefully chosen team of other professionals. We have spent a lot of careful time making sure that we have on hand the right professionals for the job.
We deal on a daily basis with a highly experienced and very competent planning consultant, she submits and runs planning applications on behalf of our clients and offers advice from a very early stage.
When dealing with listed and historic buildings, we call on the services of building historians where required to prepare historic building reports to support any listed building applications that we prepare and submit.
Once we have planning approval and move on to more technical aspects such as the building regulations drawings, we call in the services of both a structural engineer and thermal calculations engineer to provide the necessary details to support our drawings.
