Little Rissington, New Cottage
This project is the creation of a new dwelling in Little Rissington, a village that is very much sought-after being in the heart of the Cotswolds. We gained planning approval for a new dwelling within Cotswold District Council, the client had purchased a paddock with planning approval for a new bungalow which had been partly constructed.
Our client didn’t like the approved design, we were therefore engaged to design a new dwelling on the edge of this Cotswold village.
Working closely with our developer client, we presented a traditional looking Cotswold cottage with some minor modern detail, but leaning strongly towards traditional designs. We are conscious that the existing approval was for a bungalow, but felt this was the wrong style of property to be built on the edge of the village. We therefore pushed for a two-storey property but with a relatively low eaves line.
As part of the planning presentation we created colour computer images looking through the entrance gate and across the hedge, to demonstrate how the proposed building would look. The local planning authority approved the new dwelling on the edge of the village based on our proposed designs.
