Little Rissington, Contemporary House

This new dwelling is situated in Little Rissington, a village that is very much sought-after being in the heart of the Cotswolds. We were able to gain planning approval for a new dwelling within Cotswold District Council. The client owned an existing paddock that was part of the residential curtilage, but located on the outskirts of the village.

We have successfully gained consent for two other residential dwellings for the same developer client, over the previous two years.

We initially gained planning approval for a stone traditional barn that was originally intended to be used as a storage barn for implements and hay. After taking planning consultant advice, we decided to seek planning approval within this Cotswold village for a new residential dwelling, and were ultimately successful gaining the approval.

The proposed design built upon the original approval that we had gained for a stone traditional barn, and used that as the base for the main proposal, creating a design to have the appearance of a barn conversion. We evolved the design to link the stone barn to a more modern Dutch barn, therefore combining the appearance of a traditional structure with the appearance of a modern structure.
