Bodicote, Barn Conversion

This project is a barn conversion within Cherwell District Council, with a bit of a difference. It involved the full removal of the existing roof and raising of the roof with a completely new roof structure at a higher level, to make the internal space more practical.

This version is in the heart of Bodicote and is within sight of Cherwell District Council’s offices and can be seen by planning officers on their way to work. We ended up creating a scheme that we were all very proud of, a barn conversion that worked really well as a family home and also as a good example of how a barn should be converted.

This barn was in close proximity to an adjacent listed building, so design and appearance were very important. We were able to gain planning approval to extend/enlarge the barn conversion as part of the main initial approval and a link joins the barn conversion to an existing range of outbuildings, allowing them to be incorporated as part of the overall proposal.
