Bledington, Replacement Dwelling
This new dwelling was built within Cotswold District Council, sitting in open countryside.
The dwelling has been designed to have the appearance of a modern built barn conversion, however it is an entirely new structure. The site started life as a concrete block work barn that was previously part of a farm holding, but in the last few years it had been used as a builder’s storage compound.
We initially gained planning approval for a holiday let within Cotswold District Council, the initial consent allowed for the demolition of the existing barn and the replacement of a new stone barn structure to be used for holiday let purposes.
After gaining approval for the holiday let, the applicant had a change of mind and decided that he would like to live in this location, so we slightly redesigned the proposal and gaining planning approval for a new dwelling in open countryside within Cotswold District Council.
We also successfully gained approval for enlargements to the existing building, and subsequently, additional planning applications were approved for a good sized garage structure and a garden room. All of the above being new buildings in open countryside locations.
The key to this overall development was a combination of clear presentation of the drawings and being mindful of not pushing for too much in one go.
