Bledington, Garden Annexe
This project is for a new residential annexe in a property located in open countryside, near the village of Bledington within Cotswold District Council.
Following the clients’ brief we were able to obtain planning permission within Cotswold District Council for the residential annexe, incorporating a gymnasium and games room within the garden of the existing dwelling.
The proposal was carefully designed and very carefully located so as not to be visually intrusive in the open countryside. During the design and planning process we had to be mindful of “Dark Skies” which is a part of the general design policy that tries to minimise daylight spillage in open countryside locations.
To gain this approval we had to involve the local authority’s elected councillor for the district to meet with ourselves and the client, and to gain the councillor’s support to enable the application to flow through the planning system. Both design and presentation were key elements to gaining this approval.
